TRAINED FOR THE FUTURE

As the daughter of UA graduates, Brittany Grigorian grew up coming to the Capstone, especially for sporting events. When looking at colleges, she considered a few others, but nothing compared to UA.

"My parents would have let me go to college wherever I wanted to go," she said. "But I couldn't imagine my college experience being anything else."

Success in Motion

Now the senior kinesiology major is making connections and creating her own path to success as an athletic trainer. Through internships with the United States Football League and Birmingham Legion FC soccer club, she's gained hands-on experience helping injured players, performing ultrasounds and injury-specific rehab, and preparing to handle emergencies.

She's staying ahead of the game this fall with an internship with the highly ranked Alabama Men's Basketball team.

"Finding out I was placed with men's basketball was super exciting, especially seeing them come off the last season where they made it to the first Final Four in school history," said the UA Honors College student.

"I couldn't be more thankful for the resources, the experiences, the friends, the things I've learned here. It's been everything I could dream of and more."

From Dance Alabama! to the Big Dance

Brittany first came to athletic training through her love of dance and her interest in movement. Since her freshman year, she's had multiple roles in student-produced Dance Alabama! performances.

"Growing up a dancer, I was in the studio 20-plus hours a week all throughout middle school and high school," said Brittany, noting she experienced a few movement-related injuries. She became interested in athletic training after interning with a trainer at her high school. "I really loved being part of a team and being invested in the athlete's life on a daily basis."

When it was time for Brittany to leave her home in Cumming, Georgia, to attend The University of Alabama she knew she wanted to find her own way. Her experiences over the years at UA have provided more than a few "pinch-me" moments.

"Honestly, it's still surreal. I went to A-Day with my dad this past semester and it was really full circle," she said, remembering all the times she spent with him on campus as a child.
