Guiding First-Year Students

About 9,000 students live in 34 residence halls across UA’s campus. As a resident advisor, or RA, Ciara is a live-in student leader, answering questions, connecting students to resources and opportunities, and helping them build community.

“I anticipated UA to feel foreign, but it felt like somewhere I was meant to belong.”

Accelerating Success

Through the Accelerated Master’s Program, Ciara is working on her master’s degree as an undergraduate and will complete it in only one additional year beyond graduation. Both degrees are covered under her UA scholarship, saving time and money.

“With AMP, I have the opportunity to accomplish something I never thought possible.”

First In Her Family

Through the First-Gen Mentoring program, Ciara found a community of first-gen scholars, as well as professional and student mentors, dedicated to her success. Now a leader and mentor herself, Ciara is encouraging and supporting new students.

“It’s about making sure you’re able to succeed, regardless of your circumstances.”
